Are you considering plastic surgery? If so, where do you begin? How do you choose a plastic surgeon? Currently, plastic surgery and non-invasive cosmetic procedures are buyer-beware specialties. Depending on your state’s laws and regulations, anyone, with little to no experience, could be performing your procedure. I am not sure about you; however, when it comes to my body and my looks I choose the best of the best.
When searching for a board-certified plastic surgeon, it is imperative that they possess the three “A’s.” The provider you choose should be Amicable, they should be Available, and of course Able to help you. A great board-certified plastic surgeon should be friendly and should be able to prove to you that they have your best interests at heart. The board-certified plastic surgeon you choose should also be available to you. Available does not just mean they have the time to perform your procedure, but, also, be able to show you they are easily available to you if you have needs, wants, concerns, or questions concerning your procedure or care. The board-certified plastic surgeon should also be able. An able board-certified plastic surgeon will have considerable skill in their specialty, be proficient in the procedure you are interested in, and possess the intelligence to do the procedure safely.
Just as important as the three “A’s” are what we call the three “C’s.” The board-certified plastic surgeon you choose should be Caring, they should be Compassionate, and Completely empathetic to you and your needs. I advise you to follow your instincts on this. If, when you go in for a consultation, you do not feel completely comfortable with the board-certified plastic surgeon, you should choose someone else. It is important to remember you are the boss of your body and only you can make decisions for yourself. If you do not relate or do not like the plastic surgeon when you meet him/her, I advise you then not to become his/her patient. A long-term relationship with your plastic surgeon is founded on trust, wellbeing, and the understanding that you want to look the best you can.
A relationship with a plastic surgeon, I find in my practice, is not a one-off event. Ideally, the relationship develops into a long-term partnership between you and your board-certified plastic surgeon. Together you and your board-certified plastic surgeon can determine what is needed to look your best and be your best at any given age and stage in your life. Finding a board-certified plastic surgeon that truly understands the aging process can be one of your greatest tools in safely combating the aging process with predictable natural looking results.
